BIG BOB HERSELF

Big Bob's Hayes, Virginia, is the first Big Bob's to be owned and operated 100% by a woman. Tara Tyler, has enjoyed taking on the role of Big Bob Herself and after four years in the business her favorite saying is "Big Bob Herself, says Yes!" If you need it, she will find a way to make it work.

Big Bob Herself was a stay at home mom for fifteen years to her five home-schooled children. Josephine, 19, is doing a great job supporting herself and enjoying life. Logan, 18, is shipping out with the US Army, April 2. Ben, 16, is fast becoming one  of our most loved and wanted installer and in general go to kid for help. He plays soccer for VA Rush on the U16 USSDA team and hopes to attend college on both an athletic and academic scholarship. Ryanne, 13, and Anastasia, 10, are just living life and enjoying the day to day of being kids to busy parents:)


Little Bob, Warren Tyler, is a national class professional speaker who specializes in customer service, sales education and business management. He just happens to be the number one sales educator in the flooring industry and the best read columnist in the trade paper, Floor Covering News. 2010 brought him two new pig valves for his heart and recovery has been nothing short of interesting. While we've hoped and hoped he would return or retire...nothing of the sort. He changes daily on what we wants to do and we continue to find ways to balance the two. He enjoys being home with his two little girls and two huge dogs and really does well at the domestic side of life...it's not his passion. Therefore, he travels a little here and there and he writes several articles and blogs. 

Recently, Big Bob's Hayes, underwent a huge transformation. After fours years of listening to what the customer wanted, they scaled back on just being a complete stocking dealer. They now stock carpet, vinyl and laminates but have arranged killer deals with all the major mills to offer "special order" products at stocking pricing. Mohawk, Shaw, Beaulieu, Congoleum, Tarkett, Nafco...are just a few of the top notch brands they carry.

Grasshopper is my right hand man. I could not live or breathe without her. I truly believe Big Bob's has survived the bad economic times because Ashley is an incredibly organized and intelligent women. She is my center. When I carry the weight of all things going bad, she simply tells me...we don't need to worry about that today. When I have crazy ideas she has a great way of telling me that while my idea might sound good to me...it won't fly in the real world. She does great dealing with our customers and sadly now has her own following...imagine the shock when a customer didn't trust ME...BIG BOB HERSELF... to handle her flooring needs, only Ashley would do! 

Ashley is married to Boe...my most favorite go to car guy. Love him!!! And she added Baby Brandon to the group late October last year. He's the cutest baby ever. Recently he started to smile and a think his laugh is not far behind. He's so much fun to have in the store daily and we can hardly wait to start using him as a sales tool. I mean...who doesn't love a baby?

THE HISTORY OF BIG BOB'S FLOORING

Our founder, David Elyachar began his floor covering career as a retail carpet salesman. He worked his way up to sales manager and eventually became a mill representative. This experience afforded him extensive knowledge in all areas of the floor covering business. In addition, David developed solid contacts and personal relationships throughout the industry that have aided him in the development of his venture. These contacts continue to play a vital role in the success of Big Bob’s Flooring Outlets.

In late 1983, David and his family decided to replace the “like new” carpet in their recently purchased home. The carpet did not match their furnishings but was nearly new. It seemed wasteful to simply discard it, so they opted to advertise the carpet in the Sunday classifieds. To their surprise, the entire house-full of carpet sold immediately and over 50 calls were received from that single advertisement. The overwhelming response sparked an idea. After checking the yellow pages for a “Used Carpet” listing and finding none, an opportunity was discovered.

Nine days after that infamous ad, a business, marketing and operational plan had been written, forms printed, warehouse rented, and inventory purchased. The rest as they say... is history.

Big Bob’s Used Carpet has evolved into Big Bob’s Flooring Outlet and is now more than just a First Quality Flooring Outlet Franchise business. There are currently over 50 locations nationally, providing America’s customers with great value, quality products and outstanding service.
